The first qualifier of the season will be held at the British Duathlon Championships in Clumber Park on the 6th March. The other three opportunities will be at Stirling University on the 28th March, Emberton Park, Milton Keynes on the 11th April and Cambridge on the 2nd May.

Tom Chambers, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 2010 Edinburgh ITU Duathlon World Championships, said: “Event Scotland, the City of Edinburgh Council and triathlonscotland  are all working with British Triathlon to ensure that this will be the best World Duathlon Championships and look forward to welcoming as many Age Group qualifiers as possible to the city on the 4th / 5th September 2010.”

Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festivals and Events Champion for the City of Edinburgh, said: “In September next year we’ll be welcoming a host of talented athletes and thousands of keen spectators from all over the world to our great city for the 2010 ITU Duathlon World Championships.
“Having previously hosted what were acclaimed as the best-ever European Cross Country Championships, followed by a successful Duathlon European Championships and the fantastic World Cross Country Championships, Scotland’s Capital city is better placed than anywhere else to deliver this type of major sporting event.  We have demonstrated time and time again that Edinburgh is a truly spectacular arena for world class sporting events and I’m sure these championships will further reinforce this reputation.”
